Mattoon Illinois- #16 Lake Land Lakers take down #5 Morton College Panthers in an exciting showdown on saturday at 3:00pm
Saturday nights contest for-sure lived up to the hype. Each quarter in the first half had both teams just 1-2 points behind each other having the Lakers lead 28-25 buy halftime. In the 3rd quarter it looked like the Lakers were going to runway with this game. however; in the 4th the Panthers came out to play and out scored the Lakers 19-14 but this late game surge wasn't enough to keep the Lakers out of the Win Column.
Lakers where led by FR, Forward Sydney Richards with 13 points, 14 rebounds feeding the ball to FR, Guard Audri Spencer with 14 points, 5 assist and 5 rebounds. So, Guard Katelyn Littleton joined in on the action scoring 12 points to help the Lakers to a 64-58 win over the #5 Panthers.
We expect the Lakers to jump up a couple in this weeks NJCAA polls.
Lakers return to Laker Field House Tuesday December 5th at 5:30pm to take on the Braves of Black Hawk College.
